Exhibits, Demonstrations, Special Events, and Workshops

The Escalante Canyons Art Festival is a “working arts festival” so we encourage demonstrations and workshops for people of all skill levels from tie-dye, block print making, flint knapping, to pit-firing pottery. Painting classes and workshops will also be featured.

2010 “Paint Out”

This year we are planning a one-day "Paint Out" event open to any registered artist. The artists will paint together, in one spot for several hours, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM* on Wednesday, September 22. A $250.00 cash prize will be awarded to the artist who does the best painting or drawing as chosen by his peers. Artists will choose the winner by casting a vote at 5:00 PM. This is in addition to the other awards given out during the festival. The cash prize will be awarded in the evening at the Artists’ Reception at the GSENM Visitor’s Center. The location for the “Paint Out” is on the property of Slot Canyons Inn, http://www.slotcanyonsinn.com/, located off Highway 12 on Widstoe/North Canyon Road, approximately 5 miles west of Escalante.

*Subject to change.
